Steampunk table clock Ganges
We wanted to make a smaller clock for quite a long time never finding the right shape for it. But then suddenly we realized that a classical alarm clock silhuette will work perfectly. The clock we made has only this famous shape with decorative bells on top and there is no function of alarm clock (we all have smart phones and smart watches these days with alarm clocks of any type).
Choosing the shabby chic finish we were inspired by the colorful palette of three great rivers environment - Ganges, Danube and Loire.
The Ganges is a sacred river to Hindus along every fragment of its length. All along its course, Hindus bathe in its waters, paying homage to their ancestors and to their gods by cupping the water in their hands, lifting it and letting it fall back into the river; they offer flowers and rose petals and float shallow clay dishes filled with oil and lit with wicks (diyas). On the journey back home from the Ganges, they carry small quantities of river water with them for use in rituals.
We created the Automaton Wall Clock series getting inspired not only by old mechanical wrist watches which gear motors seem to us real works of art but mechanical toys which were quite popular among the rich in XVIII in France. The gears in this set are decorative and dont move. For those who like to observe the motion we have another set of wall clocks with all moving gears which is called Automaton Bite Series.
The clock face and hands are covered with protective acrylic glass. Our wooden clock is made of many layers of Baltic birch, painted wood stain. Handcrafted vintage brass screws are used in the clock.
*the clock can be personalized (any name on clock face instead `Automaton` +10USD).

***the gears are decorative and they dont move together with the quartz clock mechanism.
