While making the design of a new clock we were inspired not only by old mechanical wrist watches which gear motors seem to us real works of art but mechanical toys which were quite popular among the rich in XVIII in France. These toys were called automatons and were self-operating machines, or machines designed to follow automatically a predetermined sequence of operations, or respond to predetermined instructions. Some automata, such as bellstrikers in mechanical clocks, are designed to give the illusion to the casual observer that they are operating under their own power.
The hands motion is complemented by the movement of 2 gears each of which is an AA battery operated. The mirror adds some volume to the clock and amplifies the movement effect, transforming the clock into a kinetic installation.
Natural colors of this unique handcrafted wooden wall clock with big hour clock face, two moving gears and three weather station units will make a perfect match for any modern space. Collecting the data on atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity, you can easily predict the weather changes.
