We are a bit of vagabonds and travellers inside. For us nothing can be compared with seeing, touching, smelling and tasting new places, experiencing them and exploring roles which the place kindly offers. Through the things we create we want to share several most significant cities of the USA and Europe which have not only rich history but important personal meaning.

We created the Automaton Wall Clock series getting inspired not only by old mechanical wrist watches which gear motors seem to us real works of art but mechanical toys which were quite popular among the rich in XVIII in France.

This wall clock belongs to our new Automaton Bite Wall Clock series but the main difference is that here the gears move smoothly and silently together with the clock mechanism. This beautiful effect of motion doubles because of the mirror on the back layer. The gears are powered by 4 AA batteries.

An automaton (pronunciation: /ɔːˈtɒmətən/)(plural: automata or automatons) is a self-operating machine, or a machine or control mechanism designed to follow automatically a predetermined sequence of operations, or respond to predetermined instructions. Some automata, such as bellstrikers in mechanical clocks, are designed to give the illusion to the casual observer that they are operating under their own power.

Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837 near a portage between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River watershed and grew rapidly in the mid-nineteenth century. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which destroyed several square miles and left more than 100,000 homeless, the city made a concerted effort to rebuild on the damage. The construction boom accelerated population growth throughout the following decades, and by 1900 Chicago was one of the five largest cities in the world. During this period, Chicago made noted contributions to urban planning and zoning standards, new construction styles (including the Chicago School of architecture), the development of the City Beautiful Movement, and the steel-framed skyscraper.

Our wooden clock is made of many layers of Baltic birch, painted wood stain and acrylics. Handcrafted galvanized brass screws are used in the clock.
