Automaton 1891 Meteorology Wall Clock

Regular price $148

This big wall clock Automaton 1891 Meteorology with a built-in weather station is made of several layers of wood, woodstained and painted high quality acrylic paint and a piece of acrylic mirror. The front elements of the clock are decorated with detailed and intricate engraving. Stainless steel elements and copper coated screws are used in the construction of this clock model.

The weather station provides information on atmospheric pressure. Collecting this data, you can predict the weather changes.

While making the design of a new clock we were inspired by Aristotle's treatise Meteorology (Greek: Μετεωρολογικά; Latin: Meteorologica or Meteora). The text discusses what Aristotle believed to have been all the affections common to air and water, and the kinds and parts of the earth and the affections of its parts. It includes early accounts of water evaporation, earthquakes and other weather phenomena.

The hands motion is complemented by the movement of 2 gears each of which is an AA battery operated. The mirror on the background adds some volume to the clock and amplifies the movement effect, transforming the clock into a kinetic installation. This model has an extra minor clock face with a separate second hand.

Upon request the clock can be personalized with a text engraving, which will neatly supplement the look of the clock face.

Clock size 34x32 cm / 13x12 in

**the clock hands can slightly differ from those you see on the pictures
